Garden Talk

From this to that

So much has happened this year! I still cannot believe that Michael Jackson has died. But it has thrust me into a nostalgia that is unprecedented. When a caterpillar becomes a butterfly there is a marked change~ death of former and birth of the latter. There have been so many issues from my past that seem to have come back to me for review. So many things that are reminding me of the great lessons I learned or thought I did only to get that Sherlock Holmes Elementary feeling all over again, like I should have known that.

Well let’s start with the garden. This year things were really so much better than last year. I was able to catch those insects ahead of time. Using both the Tiki and the environmentally safe insecticidal soap I was able to see a harvest! I also got down to weeding as much as possible. That’s really the whole job ~ you must weed and you must protect your crop from invaders, water and sun and you’re good. I feel a little sad for the bumble bees and never spray them directly. They have been struggling so and really love the tomato & cucumber flowers. There is a caterpillar on one of the tomato vines and I am debating what to do…

The basil was the superstar this year; beautiful, fragrant, and really tasty too. The basil was kind enough to allow the rosemary to nuzzle out a little nourishment, but it was just being kind because the oregano required constant clipping to keep in its place but it really good tasting too. I enjoyed gardening in a way I never knew I would. The garden responds to even a little care and there is a real payoff and reciprocal showoff love. That makes me a little sad because I am learning more and more about reciprocity from the world. That’s something I feel a little remedial in. God is very specific with me. I may not have been able to compute this any other time.

Well that’s enough for today. Hike talk later!

You have really healthy dirt, there, in your garden. I can't wait to show you what kind of dirt we have. It is great weather here but the dirt is very hard and very red. I love the pictures.
