The elephant & the blood pressure

Determination

Ok let’s get handle on this. Our blood pressures are collectively too high! What’s up with that?! When the top number (systolic) is above 140 mm Hg and the bottom number (diastolic) is above 90 mm Hg it is generally agreed that this person has HYPERTENTION.

This is a major threat to life and health. We know it intimately . Our Dad died prematurely and was confined to a wheelchair for the most productive time of his life. All that passion for drama confined… I often imagine him alive & well with me taking him to a singing thing where he gets to sing and preform.

I want us to conquer this. I want to see us all live to be old ladies and gentleman(Tony).

Ok lets look at the causative factors:

  • Obesity
  • Smoking
  • Heredity
  • An aggressive, hyperactive personality…I am not making this up I am getting this froma Miller & Keane Encyclopedia for Nursing & Allied Health.

You figure if you know the causative factors that’s half the battle, but unfortunately not so…It’s what I like to call “ the dilemma of Not Doing”… Anytime we are challenged with the temptation to stop overeating or stop smoking or using less salt it feels destined to fail. I am from the school that you have to do something positively to promote . Let’s try it now… Ok for the next few minutes stop reading and close your eyes and no matter what happens I want you not to think about a Labrador retriever.. Do not think about it…

Well you get it. That is impossible~ but if you have an elephant to replace that dog you ~~can win.

So my advice:

· See your doctor and follow the advice she gives you. If she gives youmedication do not stop taking it . I do not care if you feel fine.

· Add more fruits and vegetables to very meal.

· Get 6 to 8 hours of rest every night.

· Get out and stretch then jog or walk every day.

I plan to write more about this because I care. I am concerned that we all live to our fullest. Let us get started now. You cannot afford to wait. Why not live! I love you.

Thank you for the pressure advice. Can you up the sleep time from 8 to 10 hours? Love it! I am trying to decrease my need for bp meds this year. Love YOU!
