Childhood pictures in my mind always have Amy in them. I see Amy & I kneeling on the bed in that back bedroom before we moved up to the attic: watching the cars go by. Amy tapping me on my shoulder saying; "...turn your face toward me till I sleep Joanne." She was scared of the dark. Amy holding her chest swearing she was having a heart attack for me to get help! She was about 6 years old! During those times I would glance over at her and think :'Damn she's ugly look at that big head look at that crazy jaw' She's just my little sister, who is mine & no one else can take care of her like I can. No that's not really true. I was wrong on both accounts. Amy was really the cutest of all and I adored her, always. She was fun and fiercely compassionate as well as competitive. I remember marveling at her capacity to love and care about people in the news who were suffering calling across to me at night: "Did you pray for Timmy who was stuck in the well ~ You have to pray for him or he will not get out ." She cried and prayed. When he was found alive maybe a day later I thought :WOW go Amy!

There are so many more recent memories. Simple moments that are really awesome . Looking at her up on stage singing for the Apollo theater, shaking hands with Nelson Mandela, her travels to Bosnia and the daily way she snatches kisses from her children and cares so devotedly for our mother. Amy you are a marvel a reporter an educator and really just getting started.

I am grateful for the ride we have had together I love you more than you will ever know and hold you as one of the first tangible expressions of God's Love for me I know he loves me because he gave me my life long friend as my sister.

May you continue to be Blessed!
